The NFL trade deadline falls at 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, November 10 — eight days out.30 But the market didn't wait for the calendar. On October 7, one day after Lane Johnson announced his retirement, the Eagles traded Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens — plus a 2027 seventh-rounder — to the Ravens for a 2027 fifth and a 2028 second.1
Arizona sent Marvin Harrison Jr. to Houston on October 11. Indianapolis, eight days after firing its general manager,44 traded Quenton Nelson to Seattle and DeForest Buckner back to San Francisco on the same day, October 27. And on October 29, Chicago paid two first-round picks for Tennessee defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons — the biggest deadline-season deal of the year.373832
What follows is a buyer's and seller's guide built from the trade trees that already exist, and the specific ones a November deal would extend, tangle, or finally close.
Sellers
The Chargers and the tree that won't stop growing
Los Angeles is 0-7 — the league's only winless team52, labeled sellers since early October454 — and history is not on its side: only one team has ever reached the playoffs after an 0-4 start — the 1992 Chargers.6 ESPN's Adam Schefter named edge rusher Khalil Mack as a deadline candidate: "Last year of his contract on a team that is not winning."6 Mack re-signed with the Chargers in March on a one-year deal, so the expiring-contract part is literal.3
Mack already anchors a tree that began in September 2018: Oakland sent him to Chicago for a 2019 first and sixth and a 2020 first and third — picks that became Josh Jacobs (No. 24), Blessuan Austin (No. 196), Damon Arnette (No. 19), and Bryan Edwards (No. 81) — while the Bears got Oakland's 2020 second-rounder back, which became Cole Kmet (No. 43). Then Chicago flipped Mack himself to the Chargers in March 2022 for a 2022 second (Jaquan Brisker, No. 48) and a 2023 sixth.2425 If Mack moves at this deadline, the Khalil Mack tree grows again — eight years after the trade that started it.
The reunion had reporting behind it: Schefter reported the Bears were intent on bringing Mack back, and FOX's Jay Glazer reported actual talks between the teams.53 Two things seemed to kill it. Chicago spent its 2027 and 2028 first-round picks on Jeffery Simmons on October 29, and the Chargers — per Albert Breer — have shut down trade inquiries for their veterans, Mack included, despite the 0-6 start.46 Breer allowed that another loss could change that — and on Sunday morning, November 1, before the game, Ian Rapoport reported the Bears are still calling around for edge help and called a Mack reunion "still very much a possibility" if Los Angeles lost again.57 Los Angeles then did lose, 24-9 to the Rams. Mack, asked about the trade rumors after the game, said: "You've got to be where your feet are."58
The Browns' garage sale closed early
Cleveland made the biggest seller move of the year back in June, sending Myles Garrett to the Rams for Jared Verse, a 2027 first-rounder, a 2028 second-rounder, and a conditional 2029 third — after which Garrett signed a five-year, $208.2 million extension with $99 million guaranteed.2223
Cleveland is 5-3, third in the AFC North after Sunday's 27-6 loss in Pittsburgh.52 Schefter's early-October report that wide receiver Jerry Jeudy "could be had" in a trade5 has since been overtaken: on October 25, Rapoport and Schefter reported the Browns aren't shopping Jeudy at all, that the price is high, and that a deal "seems unlikely."47 Jeudy's own tree is unchanged for now: Denver sent him to Cleveland in March 2024 for a 2024 fifth (No. 136) and sixth (No. 203). A second trade in three years would extend the Jerry Jeudy tree.
The Titans traded Jeffery Simmons
Schefter named running back Tony Pollard as a deadline candidate in early October, and Heavy's deadline coverage carried defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons's early-season line, with the Titans facing what Heavy called a possible "fire sale in November."2 8
On October 29, the 1-6 Titans traded Simmons and a 2028 fifth-rounder to Chicago for the Bears' 2027 first-round pick, 2027 fourth-rounder, and 2028 first-rounder.3132 Tennessee now holds two first-round picks in each of the next two drafts.43 Pollard remains a Titan, and late-October reporting lists him among the Titans who could be next to go — and he has never been traded, so a deal would start a brand-new tree.45 The full Simmons deal sits in the Jeffery Simmons tree.39
Indianapolis: the fire sale that actually happened
Indianapolis fired general manager Chris Ballard on October 19, and eight days later traded Nelson and Buckner on the same day.4438
Guard Quenton Nelson — an eight-time Pro Bowler on an expiring contract — went to defending champion Seattle for a 2027 third-rounder and a 2028 fifth-rounder — the Quenton Nelson tree.333442 Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner went back to San Francisco the same day, for a 2027 fourth-rounder.3536
San Francisco drafted Buckner seventh overall in 2016, then traded him to Indianapolis in March 2020 for the No. 13 overall pick, which became Tristan Wirfs — the trade that anchors the DeForest Buckner tree. Six and a half years later, on October 27, he went back the other way.4136
And Indianapolis may not be done. The remaining name is Jonathan Taylor — the one Schefter reported on October 27 that the Colts' owner did not want to trade, with ESPN's Jeremy Fowler putting the odds of a deal at 30 percent.50 IndyStar called him the most coveted name left on the board,44 with Minnesota (6-0 and the league's last unbeaten team when IndyStar published on October 26; 6-1 after Sunday's loss5552) and Denver linked. A week ago the Colts were resisting. That flipped on October 31: Schefter and Rapoport reported Indianapolis is now open to trading Taylor, with talks "active and ongoing," and Denver has emerged as the most aggressive suitor. The openness has a price — Tom Pelissero reported the Colts have already rejected an offer of a 2027 second-round pick plus another pick, holding out for a premium return — and it has limits: Seattle, an early suitor, has dropped out after landing Nelson, and Cincinnati checked in only to find the price too high.56
Arizona traded Marvin Harrison Jr.
On October 11, the Cardinals traded Marvin Harrison Jr. — the No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 draft — and a 2027 sixth-rounder to Houston for 2027 second- and seventh-round picks.37 Arizona converted the fourth pick of a draft into a second-rounder two and a half years later. The deal opens the Marvin Harrison Jr. tree — a brand-new one. Arizona moved early: October 11, eighteen days before Tennessee traded Simmons and a month before the deadline.40
The Dolphins: a tree waiting to be born
Miami is 1-652, and late-October reporting still lists defensive tackle Zach Sieler and right tackle Austin Jackson among the veterans who could bring back picks, after Jason La Canfora reported earlier in the month that league executives expected Jackson to be available and called Sieler "a prime target."4519
Neither Sieler nor Jackson has ever been traded, so a deal would not extend an existing tree — it would start a new one.
Buyers
Chicago: the deadline's designated buyer — confirmed
Chicago reached 3-1 on October 4, off two straight wins with Caleb Williams sidelined by a hamstring injury — Case Keenum's 27-7 win over Philadelphia and Tyson Bagent's 23-12 win over the Jets.7 ESPN's Dan Graziano had named them buyers — "GM Ryan Poles has been aggressive since he got to Chicago in acquiring players" — and Poles himself has said the team is "always going to be opportunistic" about improving the roster.78
On October 29, at 5-2, Poles made the deadline season's biggest deal. Chicago sent its 2027 first-round pick, its 2028 first-round pick, and a 2027 fourth-rounder to Tennessee for Jeffery Simmons and a 2028 fifth-rounder.3132 Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Simmons is the first defensive tackle in the common draft era ever traded for multiple first-round picks.32 Chicago had first pursued DeForest Buckner — it made a serious effort before San Francisco landed him on October 27 — and paid the two firsts for Simmons two days later.31
In 2023, Chicago bought at the deadline: it sent a 2024 second-rounder (No. 40) to Washington for Montez Sweat on October 31 — the Montez Sweat tree.2627 A Day-2 pick then; two firsts now. Simmons reunites with Sweat, his Mississippi State teammate, on Chicago's defensive line.31
Dallas: the buyer with an empty wallet
The Cowboys sent Micah Parsons to Green Bay in August 2025 for Kenny Clark and first-rounders in 2026 and 2027 — then, in November 2025, spent Green Bay's 2027 first (plus Mazi Smith and a 2026 second) on Quinnen Williams. The other Parsons first, No. 20 in 2026, got flipped to Philadelphia on draft night; the Eagles spent it on receiver Makai Lemon. The Parsons/Clark tree and the Quinnen Williams tree are linked by the single asset that traveled between them: Green Bay's 2027 first.2829
The problem is draft capital: Dallas holds five picks in the 2027 draft — six in 2028 and seven in 2029, one first-rounder in each year — yet Jerry Jones keeps dialing — on October 1 it was a 2028 second and a 2027 sixth to Pittsburgh for cornerback Joey Porter Jr. PFF's Bradley Locker projected Dallas as a fit for five edge rushers (Tuli Tuipulotu, Yaya Diaby, Zaven Collins, Will McDonald IV, Joshua Uche), while stressing these are projected fits, not reported talks.9
Philadelphia: never count out Howie
The Eagles are 2-6 — and there is no more perennially active general manager than Howie Roseman.5220 He traded Jurgens and a 2027 seventh-rounder to Baltimore in October for a 2027 fifth and a 2028 second.
The strange ones
George Pickens and the tag that might get flipped
Pickens is playing on a $27.3 million franchise tag10 after the Cowboys announced before the draft that they would not negotiate a long-term deal — Stephen Jones said flatly that "there won't be negotiations."21 Wire Report floated him as a candidate on September 30 if Dallas slid out of contention.11
Pittsburgh dealt Pickens to Dallas in May 2025 for a 2026 third-rounder and a 2027 fifth, with a 2027 sixth-rounder coming back to Dallas. That 2026 third — No. 76 overall — became quarterback Drew Allar, drafted by the Steelers and one of the ten rookie quarterbacks drafted this spring.15 ESPN's Evan Cohen described Pittsburgh in September as stuck in "quarterback purgatory" and floated a T.J. Watt-for-J.J. McCarthy swap on Unsportsmanlike.12 If Dallas ever flipped Pickens, the George Pickens tree would grow a new branch.
Mac Jones and the bridge-quarterback market that wasn't
Tampa Bay lost Baker Mayfield to a dislocated right thumb in Week 3, and undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels started three games in his place.1516 Bleacher Report's Alex Kay pitched a deal at the time: a conditional 2027 third-rounder to San Francisco for Mac Jones, who went 5-3 filling in for Brock Purdy last season.13
Mayfield returned on October 25 against Carolina, wearing a protective glove, and Daniels went back to the bench after a 1-2 stint as the starter; the Buccaneers are 3-5, their bridge need ended by Mayfield's return.4849 ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on September 30 that the 49ers won't sell low — "it would take real draft capital, perhaps a Day 2 pick."14 The quarterback market moved elsewhere in September: the Giants traded for J.J. McCarthy on September 28, sending Minnesota a 2027 fifth-rounder. Jones's own chain — New England to Jacksonville in March 2024 for a 2024 sixth (No. 193) — sits in the Mac Jones tree, and he has not been traded since.
Pittsburgh: the team that isn't selling after all
The Steelers are 6-2, alone atop the AFC North, under new coach Mike McCarthy with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback.52 Pittsburgh dealt cornerback Joey Porter Jr. to Dallas on October 1 — and made no further trades.
Alex Highsmith landed on the trade watch after Pittsburgh extended Nick Herbig for $100 million in June; Highsmith is signed through 2027 on his four-year, $68 million deal.17 In Daniel Popper's October 22 accounting, he had three sacks and a team-high 19 pressures through six weeks.54 But neither report has Pittsburgh selling him for picks: Pro Football Rumors relayed on October 20 that the Steelers do not look ready to bite on Highsmith interest, and The Athletic's Popper wrote that moving him would likely require a player-for-player swap, not picks.5154 As for T.J. Watt, Ian Rapoport said in June that "Watt is not going anywhere"18.
Eight days to go
Five deals from October 7 onward are done — Jurgens to Baltimore on October 7, Harrison to Houston, Nelson and Buckner out of Indianapolis on October 27, and Simmons to Chicago — and two situations have closed: Cleveland isn't shopping Jeudy, and Mayfield is back for Tampa Bay. What remains:
- Taylor, last Colt standing — for now. Indianapolis has sold Nelson and Buckner, and Jonathan Taylor is the biggest name still on its roster. The Colts flipped from refusing to listening on October 31, have already turned down a 2027 second-rounder plus another pick, and Denver is pushing hardest — the last Colt of the three still in play, even if the premium ask may still keep him in Indianapolis.56
- Mack's next move. The Chargers shut down inquiries at 0-6; they're 0-7 now, the Bears are still calling, per Rapoport57, and another Mack trade would extend the Khalil Mack tree.
- Jeudy's second move — unlikely now. Cleveland is 5-3 and, per the October 25 reporting, isn't shopping him — the price is high and a deal seems unlikely. A premium offer would extend the Jerry Jeudy tree.
- The Pickens footnote. Pittsburgh's 2026 third-rounder from the deal became quarterback Drew Allar. If Dallas ever moves its tagged receiver, the George Pickens tree grows a new branch.
- Jones's Day-2 price tag. A Jones deal would take real draft capital, perhaps a Day 2 pick, per Fowler — and Tampa Bay's need vanished when Mayfield returned. The Mac Jones tree stands as it is.
- Dallas's draft capital. Five 2027 picks left, five projected edge-rusher fits (Locker's list — projected fits, not reported talks), and Jerry Jones, who spent a 2028 second and a 2027 sixth on Joey Porter Jr. on October 1.
The deadline is 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, November 10.30
